able to store more information so maintaining the original picture and audio quality far better.
As well as maintaining impressive sound and visuals, you can record for longer, save space with the
compact nature of the discs and unlike videos, the DVDs are re-usable for far longer without loss of
quality.
Compatible DVD Discs
Compatible DVD discs, as DVD discs are not all the same. Different recording formats are as follows – DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW and DVD Ram. Each format has its own slightly different feature and capability.
Connections
Connections have minimum requirements to use a DVD player or recorder is to have a TV with a Scart input, and a Scart lead to connect the two.
HDMI Output
HDMI output connects to an HD ready TV. It doesn’t actually produce HD pictures, it simply up-scales its standard quality picture to display on the screen.
Hard Disk Drive (HDD)
Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is common in a combined DVD players and recorder package, offering more recording space and flexibility. HDD can store recordings that are as good as broadcast TV and are as versatile as a DVD-RAM disc.
HD DVD
HD DVD (High Density Digital Versatile Disc) is a digital optical media format which is being developed as one standard for high-definition DVD. HD DVD is similar to the competing Blu-ray Disc, which also uses the same CD sized (120 mm diameter) optical data storage media and 405 nm wavelength blue laser.
There are two kinds of single-sided HD DVD discs for content playback: the 15GB single-layer disc, and the dual-layer disc with double the capacity, 30GB. By using the latest compression technologies, the 15GB disc can hold a complete movie and tons of bonus content: extra/deleted original scenes, actor and director interviews.
Blu-Ray Disc
Blu-Ray Disc (BD) also known as Blu-ray is the name of a next-generation high-definition video (HD), optical disc format jointly developed by the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), a group of the world's leading consumer electronics, personal computer and media manufacturers (including Apple, Dell, Hitachi, HP, JVC, LG, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, TDK and Thomson).
A single-layer Blu-ray Disc can hold 25GB, which can be used to record over 2 hours of HDTV or more than 13 hours of standard-definition TV. There are also dual-layer versions of the discs that can hold 50GB.
