Fridges and freezers are an essential part of our living and come in all shapes and sizes. Modern
units often come with extra features and gizmos which can have some nice benefits such as less
defrosting or having ice cool water on tap.
Yet with so much choice, it all comes down to what you want and how much you want to spend.
Fridges
Key points to consider is the energy rating and your shopping habits. Keep in mind that modern fridges
can use less than 25% of energy that fridges used 15 years ago.
Freezers
Excellent for preserving food for long periods of time. Many fridge freezers contain a small freezer
compartment but depending on your shopping habits, you may find that you need a larger freezer, equal
to the size of your fridge.
Fridge Freezers
Combine cooling and freezing into one unit, often saving space or to better match your needs. Fridge
freezers usually offer either an average sized fridge with small freezer compartment or equal sized
fridge and freezer.
American Cooling
Chest freezers usually have bigger capacities and are top opening so are often useful for storing food
in garages or cellars for example, saving space in the kitchen.

Sizes
Fridges come in a variety of shapes and sizes allowing to you to pick the right product to match your
needs. Smaller fridges are designed to fit easilty below your worktops while larger fridges are designed
to stand alone, offering far more storage capacity.
Different freezer styles tend to come in similar dimensions with the under the counter models and the
tall, stand alone version. Chest freezers are also available and quite different to the other designs,
opening from the top and are usually around 85cm wide and approximately 90cm tall.
Fridge freezers again come in a variety of styles. If you don't use the freezer that much then a
model that has a small freezer compartment and large fridge would perhaps best suit you.
Models that are divided equally in proportion are also available.
American coolers are also available which offer the most storage space with large double doors and
have a cool water tap.
Another consideration is between build-in and freestanding.
Energy Labeling
All freezers come with an energy rating from A++ to G where A++ is the most efficient and G is the
least. You could save money on your electric bills in the long run with an A or A++ energy efficient
unit.
